DAB+ and the Digital Future for Radio

In this fast paced market, the audio industry is changing rapidly, said Jacqueline Bierhorst. New services are being developed, consumer preferences are shifting, competition is being transformed, DAB+ helps to grow radio and revenue.DAB+ is the core digital platform for radio in Europe, and it’s growing throughout the asia pacific region and so on. There are 5Cs that are driving the growth which are coverage, content, consumer devices, cars, communication with policy and regulations as well as collaboration across the industry.

Moving on, worldDAB is the global industry forum which consists of 110 members from 33 countries that offer knowledge, expertise and advice. worldDAB is also working with specialist committees such as marketing, automotive etc. to hold events including workshops and networking. Additionally, worldDAB has launched an ebook to establish in DAB+ digital broadcast radio. not only that, worldDAB will be having a summit on 8th November at Munich, Germany.

Radio is varied, some big stations with big budgets, some small stations with small budgets. Nowadays, FM/AM technology is really expensive, but it can also be cheap. The reason that it works is because it has an open standard where anyone can build transmitters and receivers. also because of the open standards which has made analogue radio ubiquitous.

DAB+ digital radio is better than analogue radio. With more stations, lesser interference, choices of audio quality, the ease to tune in, better visuals as well as modern listening experience, it’s better for listeners, manufacturers and also the radio stations. Many European countries are starting low-cost DAB networks. Statistics show that in The UK will have 75 low-cost DAB networks by the end of 2023, and 150 by the end of 2025 – one for almost every town and city.

To sum up, digital radio can be as ubiquitous as analogue, in cars, in homes, in workplaces, everywhere.
